The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra concert at Ebenezer Baptist Church will take place on Sunday, July 17, 2011, at 7 p.m. The National Black Arts Festival and the Orchestra continue their annual partnership to present a community concert at Ebenezer Baptist Church on historic Auburn Avenue.

The concert features young musicians from the ASO Talent Development Program and the Detroit-based Sphinx Competition. Both the Sphinx and ASO/TDP programs nurture talent in Black and Latino communities in the classical music genre.

Angelica Hairston will be performing William Grant Still’s “Ennanga.” Violist and 2011 Sphinx Competition Gold Medalist Paul Laraia will be performing Bruch’s Romance in F for Viola and Orchestra. The other pieces on the program are Verdi’s Overture to La Forza del Destino and Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 5. Charles Floyd will be conducting the concert.
